Ron had a lengthy career in the newspaper business, specializing in reporting on military affairs and international security issues. He is the co-author of six books that explore factual narratives of recent military personnel and events. With a Master's degree in Military History he obtained after retiring from a 40-plus year career as an editor and reporter for various newspapers, he served as an adjunct professor of journalism, military history, and world history at the University of North Georgia. A Marine Corps veteran, he has numerous projects in the works, including a non-fiction missing man mystery from the Vietnam War, a novel about the origins of COVID-19, and a screenplay about the drug trade in Southeast Asia in the 1980s. In the photo at the left he is in Pakistan's Northwest Frontier Province in 1988 checking out the gun markets that proliferated there to assist in arming the mujahadeen during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan
